There’s been a lot happening in our church community over the last few months and there’s a lot more planned for the coming months!! Our desire as a church is to be transformed by Jesus, to love like Jesus and to impact the world for Jesus and whatever is happening in our church life, it’s got to do with these three things!! Last week we heard from Mel Fung from “Jesus Club” - a ministry that reaches out to share the gospel with adults with intellectual disabilities. Over the course of the weekend about 25 people have signed up as interested in finding out more about this ministry and we will be holding two information sessions in the coming month to build on this! If you weren’t here last week and you’re keen to be involved, email the church office now (firstname.lastname@example.org) and let them know you want to help! What a great opportunity to serve our wider community!! Last Wednesday night our church hosted a meeting for other churches on the Northern Beaches to discuss the intake of Syrian refugees and how we as church communities can help. It’s so encouraging to see our churches band together in unity for the cause of justice and care for people. If you’re interested in finding out more about that opportunity, speak with Brad Duce or Kerry Nagel.
Finally, our staff have been busy getting our Christmas preparations underway for December with some exciting events and services as usual. This Christmas we’re using the theme, “Christmas Unwrapped” and in the lead up to Christmas will consider how the four “buzz words” of Christmas - love, joy, peace and hope - are understood by the world and how the Bible uses them regarding Christmas. Please be praying for opportunities and boldness - both for yourself, members of your small group and for Christians all around the world, that the Christmas season would bring many wonderful opportunities to make much of Jesus and God’s demonstration of love for us in sending him into the world.
God bless, Ben
